Installing Sentralise on Chrome

Sentralise currently does not support Manifest v3, so it cannot be published to the Chrome Web Store. This feature is being actively worked on, but for now, there is a workaround to install on Chrome or Chromium-based browser.

Method 1: CRX bundle

CRX bundles (.crx) are the native way of sharing extensions on Chromium. It's relatively easy to install a .crx bundle, but it can be problematic due to Sentralise using Manifest v2.

To get started with the CRX bundle, download it here. Chrome, or other Chromium-based browsers, may detect it as a suspicious file. It is safe to bypass this warning.

Download sentralise.crx
  1. Open Chrome Extensions by doing to chrome://extensions/.
  2. Enable developer mode with the toggle in the top right.
  3. Open File Explorer and find the .crx bundle you downloaded.
  4. Drag and drop the .crx into Chrome, and click 'Install' on the pop-up.

If that doesn't work, your browser may not support CRX bundles or extensions with Manifest v2. If so, continue to the next step.

Method 2: Bundle

As an alternative to a CRX bundle, you can load the extension as a 'temporary extension'. To get started, download sentralise.zip.

Download sentralise.zip
  1. Download and extract the bundle to somewhere safe (somewhere it won't be accidentally deleted).
  2. Then, open up Chrome Extensions by going to chrome://extensions/.
  3. Enable developer mode with the toggle in the top right.
  4. Over on the left, click 'Load unpack' and navigate to the directory you extract the bundle to. You should see a file called 'manifest.json'.
  5. Click 'Select' or 'Open'.
